What to Buy in March

March 3, 2016

Looking to score a great deal in March?  I stopped by the Today Show to share some of the best buys to spend your money on this month.

Spring is the perfect time of year to go on an international or domestic getaway. Since it falls right between the busy holiday and summer travel seasons, many airlines and hotels offer special packages and deals to entice people to get out of town. Travelers can potentially save between 15-40% on sites such as Expedia, Trivago, and Kayak.

Travelers who book trips to Negril, Jamaica, San Diego, and Hawaii can enjoy big savings on select package deals.

March is a great time to score select hotel deals with Trivago if you visit cities such as Vancouver, Atlantic City, Seattle, and Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Want to go on an overseas trip? Kayak will be offering good fares to Milan, London, and Ho Chi Min this month.

If you’re looking to travel in style, March is a smart time of the year to upgrade your luggage. Many brands need to get rid of old inventory to make room for newer styles that are often released in May. You can get up to 50% off at JCPenney and Macy’s on brands such a Samsonite, Columbia, and Travelpro.

The best deals on TV’s and other electronics tend to take place around Black Friday and the Super Bowl, but you may be able to stock up on a discounted TV in March if you shop wisely. Cameras and small personal electronics also tend to go on sale in March since newer models are released at CNET in January. You can get up to $300 off cameras, up to $100 off tablets, and up to $300 off TVs at stores such as Sears, Best Buy,, and Wal-Mart.

Since many retailers offer discounts on jewelry around Valentine’s Day, March is the right time of year to take advantage of any overstock. Stores such as Kay Jewelers, Zales, Sears, Macy’s and Blue Nile will be offering up to 75% off fine jewelry, diamonds, bridal jewelry, and fashion watches.

March is National Frozen Food Month and to celebrate, a variety of manufacturers will be putting their frozen foods on sale. This is an optimal time to stock up on favorites such as pizza, veggies, fruit, and poultry or to experiment with new frozen food brands. In addition to checking your local grocer’s weekly circular for sales, be sure to log onto to find more savings.
