Easy, Effective DIY Beauty Treatments

November 3, 2020

With most of us spending more time at home than ever before due to the pandemic, it’s no surprise that people’s interest in DIY beauty treatments is soaring. I had the pleasure of sharing some of my favorite at-home beauty treatments on the Wendy Williams Show today. All of the treatments are 100% natural, effective, gentle, and best of all–made from ingredients you probably already have stocked in your pantry. Get mixing and enjoy some DIY self-care!

Yogurt and Cocoa Mask

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon yogurt

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

Mix all ingredients and apply thin layer to skin. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and wash off.

Why it Works:

Yogurt is rich in probiotics, contains lactic acid (this is great for cell renewal),  and has soothing skin proteins. Cocoa contains Flavanols which calm irritation. Honey is a miracle ingredient that tightens the skin.

Oatmeal Hand Soak

Ingredients:

3 cups milk

2 cups water

4 cups oats

2 tbsp honey

Add milk, water, and oats to a pot and cook until the oats soften. Put cooked contents in a bowl, add honey and stir. Soak hands for 15-20 minutes.

Why it works:
Oatmeal is a natural exfoliant that also works to restore the skin’s natural moisture levels. This superfood can also help to calm itchy, dry, or irritated skin.  Honey is a natural antioxidant that boasts antiaging benefits.

Cinnamon Lip Scrub

Ingredients

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder

1/2 tablespoon raw honey

1/2 tablespoon olive oil

Combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix. Apply to your lips using a circular motion. This will gently slough off dead skin cells and dry skin. Rinse off with lukewarm water and apply lip balm after.

Why it Works:

Not only is cinnamon a natural exfoliator (goodbye chapped lips!), but this delicious spice increases circualtion and temporarily plumps up your lips.
